iSP™ – The EvoBus Italy case

Founded on January 1, 1996, EvoBus Italy S.p.A. is the company of the DaimlerChrysler Group responsible for Mercedes and Setra buses sold in the Italian market. EvoBus has also developed OMNIplus, an after-sales service package including 24 hours a day assistance, original spare parts, trade-in, “tailored” financial services, training and consulting services. With a market share (buses and coaches) of over 30% in 2004, EvoBus Italy holds second place overall in the Italian market of the bus with a staff of approximately 250 employees.

EvoBus Italy with the help of Emmebistudio has promoted an important project, called OMNIplus Online Parts for the sale of spare parts on-line for the group EvoBus. The goal was to create a centralized web platform which could be used not only by the Italian branch, but from all other European nations where EvoBus is present with its own subsidiaries. He was also perceived need by workers of spare parts inventory, manage orders directly to speed up the fulfillment process.

Have been proposed various design alternatives in accordance with the corporate identity of EvoBus. The platform has been developed with Microsoft SQL Server ™ with regard the data base, and a customized version of ICON ™ for the management of the content. It was made ​​for a procedure to import data from the ERP SAP ™ to facilitate the update of spare parts lists.The web architecture allows the user properly recorded the composition of spare parts orders and promotional items. The orders are consolidated on the central system and made manageable by a second application, the operators of spare parts warehouses at branches and service centers. The process of order dispatch may be monitored by the user directly from the web portal, over that by e-mail,by means of automatic tracking system for management operations. The portal is designed to manage the entire process of order spare parts online, and to promote campaigns and inform users through technical bulletins.

With only one day of training, EvoBus staff currently is fully autonomous in content management and updating of the spare parts catalogue, in addition to managing of promotional items and merchandising. EvoBus Italy did not have to support any impact on the computer internal infrastruture,  in fact is run on a hosted Emmebistudio’s web server. The visitors of portal are growing at rate of + 50% monthly and with them the proceeds. The convenience to being able to place on-line orders 24 hours on 24 and the facility of consultation portal, have induced consumers to purchase components that were not used to buy with the traditional sales channels.
